It is fortunate for us all that we are all going through the “social networking bubble”, a way of life were we spend hours a day socialising with other people. These are exciting yet crazy times we have ahead of ourselves, just one click of a button and people will know; what you think, what you are doing, were you are etc. There could be thousands of people “following” us, where by 10 years ago I’d call the police for someone following me. Nowadays we are proud of having a number of people “following” us.
However, is this a way of socialising? Or is it taking us further away from socialising? “How many of our social networking friends are our real friends? How many can you say who really knows me? Who exactly are we sharing our state of minds to?”
Enter Yumety, Yumety is a unique way of social networking which connects people through the emotional states of others such as; wishes, desires, worries and dreams. This type of social networking is a perfect platform to make friends with someone similar in the way each other feels “Someone who is going through or have gone through what we are going through inside us”. There are a number of dreamers out there that wants to express their dreams but are too embarrassed, shy and/or afraid. However, Yumety is a way for people who have similar emotions that people are out there that; do share the same feelings, do daydream a similar role, do wish similar aspirations etc. By sharing their state of mind “its algorithm computes a character graph for you (like your level of perception, emotion etc.) And then it compares your graph with other members and suggests similar people, with whom you can share, discuss or pursue a dream together.”
This type of website aims at audiences that want something different. The chances of you matched up with someone that have similar emotions, are high, which will inevitably lead to a better relationship between you and that specific person, which to me personally is their “selling” point, the way they entice people in, to sign up.
What are your views towards this? Is it too personal? Or diverse? Would you want to sign up to this?

I like the idea - its not boring like facebook. I'm tired of FB and this seems like a fresh air
ReplyDeleteI think thats amazing..that would work better than linked in..as to find people who have the same goals as you..it would probably help alot of people start a business because they can easily find business partners..or people to help them get a project off the ground.
ReplyDeleteThis is a really unique idea, I think it would be quiet succesful as it is different from existing social networking sites. It would be good for guidance - people can connect through similar emotions and talk to people who feel the same way or are going through similar sitautions e.g. youngsters in school who are being bullied could talk to others who could help them overcome the situations. It would be also be great for 'dreamers' as well as if they share the same vision they could potentially make their dream come true.
ReplyDeleteThe basis on which this social network is built around is quite interesting. This is because I have never come across a social network that is primarily psychologically based. This social network can therefore work either for a persons’ advantage or disadvantage. An example of it working for a persons’ advantage would be connecting like-minded business people who share a common goal, which would provide them with the opportunity to get their business idea flowing. However, on the contrary, this social network could work to a persons’ disadvantage in that it could connect two emotionally unstable individuals, who may perhaps wish to carry-out an act which may end up causing them to hurt themselves or someone else (particularly young adolescents, who tends to be more impressionable). This isn’t exactly a social network website I would be particularly keen on letting my younger sibling join.
ReplyDeleteYumety was born with the vision to help people build a better relationship with friends & families or meet someone like-minded.
ReplyDeleteWe are committed to build a service to help our member understand their own mind as we believe that by understanding your own mind, you will be able to understand others better - improve your relationships.
We believe by keeping track or your daily wishes, desires, worries and dreams you will be able to understand your mind better.
On Yumety you follow your friends and families minds to understand them better or meet meet someone similar with whom you can share, discuss or pursue a dream together.
I hope in any case trying to understand our own mind ( and others ) does not have any disadvantage.
I sounds really well. I still have to check it, hell I might even create a profile to try it (:
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is a big breathe of fresh air to what we are used. Sometimes the social networks that we all know can become a big script where everyone just plays a role and pretend to be "cool" so they are appealing to the rest.
I realise once researching on Yumety how many angles many people could approach this website, which is why it’s so different to any other social blog. The idea of having the same aspiration with others and having the determination to follow it through, is a force to be recognised, Very interesting.
ReplyDeleteThat is a very cool thing anonymous has shared.. Keeping track of the small wishes, desires and such daily ups and down with friends is very important.. Now a days we only end up sharing all silly stuff on social sites.. and we dont speak and share with our friends the way we used to do.. being with them through all the times.. knowing all the small things they feel and go through.. but now a days we dont.. we just upload pics and comment!!... It is a very nice and genuine effort from yumety if it succeeds... Looking foward to create a profile.. Tried but looks they are now invite only.. Not sure when they are opening up!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a very diffrent type of social website, i think that its developed to foucs on people that have a mind of imagination that is exempt from the reality. Good post will look to join and expierence this new social network
